Here are some tips and suggestions to make your construction project go easier...

  • Plan as much as you can.  You have probably heard the expression "Measure twice, cut once."  That applies to our part of the project.  A similar principle applies to yours. Your part is to think about what you want before construction starts.  Once work is underway, changes may cost you more and can slow the schedule.

  • Look at assembled examples.  Material samples can provide a basis for your decisions, and may be all that is available.  But if you can see a completed wall (roof, cabinet, floor....) it is much easier for you to understand what you are selecting.

  • Select reputable contractors.  This does not only apply to the prime contractor, but the subcontractors and major material supplies as well.  You may think you are saving a little by cutting corners, but after your project is completed the savings are forgotten and the quality (or lack of it) remains.
